Strategic Evolution: Organizational Restructuring & Change Management for ActionAid International Nepal (AAIN)
Milestone Synergy recently concluded a high-level, four-month consultancy for ActionAid International Nepal (AAIN), which focused on “Organizational Restructuring and Change Management.” This strategic partnership aimed to evolve AAIN’s internal architecture to better meet the demands of a changing global development landscape.
The Objective
Working in close coordination with an internal committee, the scope of this project was to lead a rigorous, two-phase organizational redesign. The primary goals were to:
- Audited & Optimized: Evaluated the efficacy of the existing structure against future strategic needs.
- Designed for Resilience: Created a comprehensive restructuring plan that enhanced agility and resource allocation.
- Empowered the Transition: Ensured staff buy-in through a robust change adaptation plan and targeted capability-building.
Our Methodology: A Two-Phase Strategic Redesign
The project was executed through a structured, phased approach to ensure both technical precision and cultural sensitivity:
Phase 1: Diagnostic & Strategic Design
- Structural Audit: Conducted a deep-dive analysis of then-current reporting lines, departmental silos, and decision-making workflows.
- Redesign Blueprint: Developed a future-ready organizational map that clarified accountability and aligned human capital with AAIN’s core mission.
Phase 2: Implementation & Change Adaptation
- Job Mapping & Revised Descriptions: Meticulously re-defined roles and mapped every staff member to the new structure based on revised job descriptions and competency requirements.
- Capability-Building Interventions: Designed workshops and training sessions to equip teams with the new skills and mindsets required for the restructured environment.
- Change Management Roadmap: Facilitated a smooth transition through clear communication strategies that addressed staff concerns and fostered a sense of ownership.

The result of this four-month consultancy was a leaner, more effective organizational structure for ActionAid International Nepal.
